Williston product Tyrel Ackman is back in town and looking to legitimize a brand new cross country program at Williston State College. Ackman, who did not even know the coaching job was his until August, is hopeful about the future of the program and eager to make an impact.
After graduating from Williston High School in 2020, Ackman stayed in Williston for his first year of college at Williston State. An accomplished high school runner with a state championship under his belt for the Coyotes, Ackman held onto the itch to run despite the Tetons not having a team. During his time at WSC, there was a meet at the ARC where he was eligible to run as an independent. There, he began talking to the Dickinson State University coach, and by fall of 2021, Ackman was running on the Blue Hawks roster
