EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) — Jimmy Kimmel is set to return to his late-night hosting duties Tuesday night, however, his show won't be shown on Nexstar- and Sinclair-owned ABC stations, at least for the time being.

Kimmel was pulled off the air last week over his commentary on the assassination of Charlie Kirk. But ABC's parent company, Disney, reversed course, announcing Monday that "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" can return to air.

Disney had said the decision to bench Kimmel was made because they felt his remarks were "ill-timed and thus insensitive."

"We have spent the last days having thoughtful conversations with Jimmy, and after those conversations, we reached the decision to return the show on Tuesday," Disney said in its statement on Monday.
