Carmel puts plans for new nonprofit to handle city events on hold

Mayor Sue Finkam has scrapped plans for a new, powerful Carmel nonprofit after city councilors threatened to derail her budget proposal last week, waging a public-facing campaign against Finkam.

Finkam had plans to create a new nonprofit organization, called Experience Carmel, in an effort to cut costs. That organization would have handle the city’s nearly 50 events and festivals throughout the year, as well as market the city.
