President Donald Trump on Monday promoted an unproven and in some cases completely discredited link between Tylenol and autism, attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder and intellectual disabilities.

“Don’t take Tylenol,” Trump instructed pregnant women about the drug known by the generic name acetaminophen in the U.S several times during a White House news conference.

He went as far as to urge mothers to refrain from giving their infants the drug, which is often used to bring down high fevers.

This led the FDA to initiate the process for a label change for acetaminophen, Tylenol and similar products.

“The FDA is taking action to make parents and doctors aware of a considerable body of evidence about potential risks associated with acetaminophen,” said FDA Commissioner Marty Makary, M.
