STATEWIDE -- Money is going to 12 winter warming centers to help keep Maine people warm during the cold months ahead.

Governor Janet Mills and Maine Housing announced today that 2.3 million dollars in state grants will create 338 overnight beds in Penobscot, Hancock, Kennebec, Cumberland, Aroostook, Androscoggin and York counties.

They say in the winter of 2024–2025, the warming centers helped mored more than 18 hundred individuals and families with temporary housing during the coldest months.
