NEWINGTON, Conn. (WFSB) - A Hartford man was arrested by Newington police after breaking down a door to force his way into a home with a woman and two children.

On Saturday, Newington police responded to a home for a report of a domestic dispute.

Officers were told 25-year-old Daniel Sampel assaulted a woman who had fled into a home.

Sampel forced his way into the home by breaking down the front door, according to police.

Police say there were five protective orders in place stating Sampel was not allowed at the the home.

At the time, there were also two children in the home.

The woman was able to call police, and Sampel fled before officers arrived.

Police say that Sampel knew the victim and that this was not a random act.
