Reds have to root for the Cubs this week to help NL Wild Card standings

The Cincinnati Reds just swept the Chicago Cubs , which had to feel good.

But now Reds fans need to turn around and root for the Cubs. It's the best chance to make the playoffs.

That's because for the next three days, beginning Tuesday, the Cubs play the New York Mets .

The Reds hold the third NL Wild Card spot over the Mets just by tiebreaker. The Reds and Mets have exactly the same record.

Since Cincinnati has the tiebreaker, the Reds need to just finish these last six games of the season with the same record as the Mets to get into the playoffs.

If the Mets outplay the Reds by even a single game in this final week, Cincinnati will go home.
