SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WGGB/WSHM) - Jimmy Kimmel is set to return to late night television Tuesday night after a week-long suspension following controversial comments by Kimmel in the wake of political activist Charlie Kirk’s death.

The suspension triggered a nationwide discussion over freedom of speech. While Kimmel’s right to speak on his own show has been restored, two groups of ABC affiliates are not carrying his show Tuesday evening.

According to the Associated Press, Nexstar Media Group said it would continue to preempt the show “pending assurances that all parties are committed to fostering an environment of respectful, constructive dialogue in the markets they serve.”
