SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WAND) - The sweltering summer heat did not stop Illinoisians from checking out the Illinois State Fair in August.

The Illinois Department of Central Management Services said that Springfield had 723,079 attendees at last month's fair, marking its second-highest turnout in history.

Over one million people attended the Illinois State Fair and Du Quoin State Fair in 2025.

The release said that record crowds helped boost Grandstand ticket sales. Sales for admission booklets, Mega and Jumbo passes were also up compared to previous years.

Country superstar Megan Moroney broke the attendance record at this year's fair with 15,532 fans at the Grandstand.

The 2026 Illinois State Fair will run from Aug. 13 to 23.
