PADUCAH, Ky. (KFVS) - A western Kentucky woman was arrested in connection with an identity theft investigation.

Penny Baird, 60, of Paducah, was arrested on the charge of knowingly abuse or neglect of an adult.

According to the Paducah Police Department, they were called on May 29 about an identity theft.

They say the 75-year-old victim told them Baird allegedly took her credit card and opened numerous other cards in her name without her permission.

Investigators learned the victim had been diagnosed with dementia.

After reviewing her bank statements, detectives confirmed numerous irregularities, including fraudulent transactions totaling around $3,900.
