In a development that many Major League Baseball fans have been calling for for a long while, it was officially announced that the Automated Ball-Strike Challenge System will be implemented for the entirety of the 2026 season.

This is the same system that has been tested in the minors and got recent looks at 2025 MLB spring training and the All-Star Game in Atlanta. Here’s how it works: each team receives two challenges per game, and if they’re used and successful, the team that uses the challenge retains it.
