Great British Bake Off viewers called out a ‘very silly’ challenge for ‘messing around’ with a classic treat on the latest edition of the programme.

Last week’s edition of the Channel 4 programme saw fan favourite Pui Man eliminated following a heated Break Week.

Returning for episode four on Tuesday night (September 23), the nine remaining bakers had to impress Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith in a school-themed week.

With Alison Hammond and Noel Fielding serving as the head teachers, the contestants’ Technical challenge saw them having to make a classic school treat.

The bakers were informed that they had to make a batch of 12 identical flapjacks, with a classic oaty base and an extra filling or topping.
