NEWAYGO COUNTY, Mich. —

Three months after an altercation on Croton Dam Pond in Newaygo County went viral, five people, including two school employees and a township trustee, are facing child abuse and assault and battery charges.

The charges stem from an incident on June 22. One witness posted on Facebook that they were on a pontoon on Croton Dam Pond and went to a beach to look for rocks.

When they beached, the witness said they saw an “infant baby in a car seat on a boat roughly 30 yards from any adult who was respnsible [sic] for it.”

They go on to say the people next to them told them they had been giving the baby back their pacifier for roughly the past hour, trying to soothe it.
