SMYRNA, Ga. — A special election date has been set for a state Senate seat being vacated by a gubernatorial candidate.
Former state Sen. Jason Esteves represented District 35 until he recently resigned as he runs for governor.
In an order signed on Sept. 19, Gov. Brian Kemp set the special election day for Esteves' replacement for Nov. 18.
The district covers Smyrna and a portion of Fulton County to the south of there running along the Chattahoochee.
