VINTON, La. (KPLC) - More than 20 years after a crash left two people dead, authorities have identified one of the victims who, up until now, had been a John Doe.
Investigators identified the John Doe as Dennis Elmo Wright of Ohio, Calcasieu Coroner Joseph Dressler’s office announced today. He was 46 when he died.
On May 4, 2003, the Louisiana State Police reported that 49-year-old Stanley Lewis was driving westbound on I-10 about a mile east of the Texas border when he hit a bicyclist riding on the shoulder.
Lewis died in the crash, as did the bicyclist, and their remains were submitted to the Calcasieu Coroner’s Office to be examined by Dr. Terry Welke.
The bicyclist had no identification or personal effects that identified him, the coroner’s office said. Fingerprints sent to the FBI
