The future of the Village of Donalda - which touts its authentic small-community charm and breathtaking landscapes - is in question once more.
The small village, located west of Stettler, was founded in 1911 and has a population of 226, according to the 2021 Statistics Canada census.
A viability review for Donalda was initiated by the minister of Municipal Affairs in July, 2025.
Currently, information is being collected from the village and the surrounding Stettler County, according to the Government of Alberta.
Other work, including public information sessions, are on pause until after the 2025 municipal general election.
It's not the first time the village has come under the question of dissolution.
