The Associated Press spoke with Dani Bowman, a cast member of Netflix’s 'Love on the Spectrum' and an outspoken autistic entrepreneur, about her reaction to President Donald Trump’s news conference on alleged ties between Tylenol and autism.

“Well, my first reaction was cautious optimism,” said Bowman. “My concern is that the announcements like this risk leading families down the wrong path. Autism is not something to cure. It is part of who we are.”

President Donald Trump on Monday used the platform of the presidency to promote unproven and in some cases discredited ties between Tylenol, vaccines and autism as his administration announced a wide-ranging effort to study the causes of the complex brain disorder.

“Don’t take Tylenol,” Trump instructed pregnant women around a dozen times during the unwieldy White House news conference.

"My mom never took Tylenol while she was pregnant with me or my sister. My dad has autism. My sister has autism. I have autism. It really has to do with the genetic linkage,” added Bowman.
