In an effort to identify a suspect involved in a recent sexual assault, Edmonton police have released a composite sketch and are calling on the public for any information that could lead to an arrest.

Police say between 9 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 1, officers responded to the report of a sexual assault in the area of Whyte Avenue and Gateway Blvd.

It was reported that a woman was approached by a man unknown to her and was allegedly sexually assaulted. The woman was able to break away from the suspect, who fled in an unknown direction.

Police say all investigative avenues for identifying the suspect have been exhausted, and as such, police are releasing a composite sketch of the man in the hope that it may lead to tips about his identity.
