COLUMBUS, Ohio — At the end of the month, a new law in Ohio will make changes to how veterinarians can prescribe medications and conduct initial exams with their clients.
At the beginning of 2025, Ohio Senate Bill 60 was introduced as legislation, passed by the state senate, before being referred to the state's agricultural committee for review. Ultimately, that's where the bill would stay until Gov. Mike DeWine passed the state operating budget, also known as House Bill 96 .
HB 96 rolled multiple pieces of individual legislation, including the entirety of SB 60, into one bill to be voted on by the 136th Legislature.
Under the new law, veterinary telemedicine will now be allowed in Ohio. Up until this point, telemedicine for pets was not permitted within the state. According to the Oh
