RIDGEVILLE, S.C. (WCBD) – Volvo Cars announced Tuesday that its Ridgeville factory will expand production in the coming years, adding new models and upgraded technology that leaders say will strengthen the company’s U.S. presence and grow the Lowcountry economy.

The plant, which opened in 2018, currently builds the all-electric EX90 SUV and the Polestar 3. Company officials confirmed that the popular XC60, Volvo’s best-selling mid-size SUV, will be added to the Ridgeville line in 2026. A new hybrid model will follow before 2030. Executives said the changes will move the facility significantly closer to its full capacity of 150,000 vehicles per year.
