In another quick pull-aside meeting at the U.N. General Assembly, President Donald Trump emphasized his new position that Ukraine can win back all territory lost to Russia, during a bilateral meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron.
Trump offered his position, a dramatic shift from the U.S. leader’s call on Kyiv to make concessions, in a social media posting soon after meeting with Zelenskyy.
Trump in part wrote, “I think Ukraine, with the support of the European Union, is in a position to fight and WIN all of Ukraine back in its original form. With time, patience, and the financial support of Europe and, in particular, NATO, the original Borders from where this War started, is very much an option.”
French President Emmanuel Macron who met with Trump later, praised the move saying "I just saw the message you issued after your meeting with President Zelenskyy, and I think this is a very right one."
"Given the Russian economy's suffering, I mean there is this opportunity of a good future," Macron added.
Trump emphasized his new position adding that he "feel(s) that way. I really do feel that. Let them get their land back."
