RAPID CITY, S.D. (KELO) -- The Salvation Army of the Black Hills kicked off their giving season today with their annual Shop With A Cop event.

From jackets and socks to new shoes, these students get to pick out their own clothes.

"Today we're allowing them to purchase clothing, whether that be a jacket or shoes, they may need. And we've asked local law enforcement officers to come and shop with them," Salvation Army Major Daniel Voss said.

Each student not only shops with law enforcement but is able to interact and connect with them as well.

"Shop With A Cop program allows kids to see a police officer in a different environment where they are actually helping them buy clothes or school supplies, things like that. So I think it's a bonus to see the officers outside of their normal every
