TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — Floridians will now be able to get the new version of the COVID-19 vaccine without prescriptions at their local Publix and Walgreens.

Both companies announced Tuesday that they had the 2025-2026 Pfizer and Moderna COVID vaccines available for distribution.

"In accordance with FDA approval, we offer the vaccine to all adults ages 65 years and older, as well as to individuals under 65 who are at higher risk for severe outcomes from COVID-19, as determined by the CDC," a Walgreens spokeswoman told 8 On Your Side.

After a clarification from the Florida Board of Pharmacy, Publix and Walgreens will now accept both appointments and walk-ins.
