HARRISON CO., Miss. (WLOX) - Ellie Gautreaux has a passion for building things. It’s something she’s loved doing since the first time she grabbed a power tool.

Since starting high school, she has joined the construction & carpentry program at the Harrison County Career and Technical Center (HCCTC).

“I like to do carpentry. It is really fun,” said Gautreaux.

Ellie is a little different than other students in the program, being born with spina bifida and having been bound to a wheelchair most of her life.

Being in the chair has made it challenging to use the standard tools.

“It just makes it hard to find the right level for me to work on it,” said Gautreaux.

The team at Coast Electric heard Ellie’s story and stepped up.
