A man convicted of fatally shooting his sleeping friend in Ramona, then stuffing the victim’s body in a trash can, was sentenced Tuesday to 47 years to life in state prison.

Sean Joseph Hawksworth, 26, was found guilty by an El Cajon jury in May of first-degree murder and other charges for the Oct. 20, 2023, killing of Eduardo Aguilar Alba, 26, who was found dead inside his 16th Street home.

Prosecutors say Alba was asleep in his bedroom when Hawksworth shot him in the head. Afterward, Hawksworth stole the victim’s Camaro and and some items of clothing, including designer sneakers.
