GOLDONNA, La. (KALB) - Residents in Goldonna have shared that Highway 1226, better known as the Goldonna Road, has become a major safety concern, claiming the road is so damaged that in some areas it has narrowed down to just one lane.
“When the water rises and a big rain comes, this road can go underwater in just a few hours,” said Tim Harris, a Goldonna resident.
Harris and other neighbors said the road’s condition has only gotten worse after years of heavy rain and a crumbling gravel base. They worry it is only a matter of time before a serious accident happens, especially with school buses and 18-wheelers traveling the road every day.
“There’s no excuse for a parish road to be in this kind of shape, especially when it’s a school bus with our children traveling it every day,” Harris
