BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Frustrations with multiple issues regarding the Louisiana High School Athletic Association boiled over at the State Capitol during a hearing on Tuesday, September 23.

One state representative says he’s proposing a change.

“That’s the reason why I’m going to pursue starting another association,” said Rep. Tehmi Jahi Chassion.

Rep. Chassion says stories of transfer students being ruled ineligible, like former LSU standout and Louisiana native Malik Nabers in 2020, spurred his decision.

“These things are truly affecting kids,” emphasized Rep. Chassion.
