ROCHESTER, Minn. — Mayo Clinic researchers have developed new artificial intelligence tools aimed at identifying children at high risk for serious asthma complications.
According to a study in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology, these tools can detect risks as early as age 3.
The initiative is part of Mayo Clinic's precure strategic priority, which focuses on predicting and preventing serious diseases early. Doctors say this is especially important for childhood asthma, a condition affecting nearly 6 million children in the U.S. and a leading cause of missed school days and hospital visits, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
