American rapper Snoop Dogg has landed in Melbourne for the AFL grand final, already making his presence felt ahead of Saturday's big game with a "slight budget re-issue".

On Tuesday, the headlining act for the pre-game entertainment was introduced to the MCG's hallowed turf, joining Collingwood stars and brothers Josh and Nick Daicos for a kick-to-kick.

Controversy has surrounded the AFL's decision to hire Snoop Dogg, with critics pointing to the legendary artist's views on the LGBTQ+ community and women, use of derogatory language, and legal issues centring on drug possession and gun possession throughout his career.

Across town at Marvel Stadium, a replica stage has been constructed, with Snoop Dogg and his back-up dancers beginning rehearsals, with more to follow later in the week.
