WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - GraceMed is celebrating the graduation of the first cohort from its apprenticeship program. The program spans 12 months, allowing employees to earn certification as medical and dental assistants while receiving a livable wage.

Participants in the program gain hands-on experience two days a week and spend the remaining three days attending on-site courses at GraceMed’s new training facility.

“I’ve grown more as an individual, I’ve grown more as a professional, I’ve learned how to be more compassionate; how to help patients, how to help my community,” said Kenvey Reyes, a recent graduate from the program. “I’m Hispanic, and there’s a lot of work that needs to be done in the community. GraceMed has given me the tools to help and to succeed.”
