KHONSA, Sep 23: Tirap district paid tribute to Zubeen Garg, the “Voice of North East”, in a befitting way here today.

It’s worth mentioning here that Assam bade a tearful farewell to the iconic singer with full state honours.

Organized under the aegis of Tirap Artistes Forum (TAF), a mass candle lighting in loving memory of Zubeen Garg was carried out at the Khonsa Taxi stand near the Bazar in which people from all walks of life assembled.

On the occasion, popular singers from TAF sang several Zubeen numbers including ‘Pakhi Pakhi Mili’, ‘Ashing Ayang’ and many more.

Earlier, the program started with a welcome speech from TAF Chairman Jewang Sumnyan, which was followed by the gathering observing two minutes silence.
