A Marion County man is in hot water with Indiana Secretary of State Diego Morales for producing and selling fake temporary license plates online.
Kal K. Hall pled guilty to counterfeiting. He was sentenced to 545 days of home confinement, which will follow a separate 545-day sentence in the Department of Corrections from another case.
The Auto Dealer Services Division led the investigation after uncovering Hall's scheme of creating fake interim tags on his computer and selling them on Facebook Marketplace for $25 to $50 each. Investigators bought one of the fake tags using a fictitious Facebook profile. Subpoenas to Cash App revealed dozens of similar transactions.
