Summit County Search and Rescue teams are attempting to locate a missing kayaker who they believe may have fallen overboard while recreating on Echo Reservoir.

Family members reported the man, who is in his 50s, as missing earlier in the day. He was last seen around 4:30 p.m., according to Sgt. Skyler Talbot with the Summit County Sheriff’s Office.

Talbot said the Utah Department of Public Safety and Utah Division of Wildlife Resources are assisting the Sheriff’s Office.

Law enforcement found an empty kayak on the water, but Talbot said the case is still considered an active search as of 7 p.m.
