There was no guarantee that McKeesport running back Kemon Spell would return for the Tigers’ Greater Allegheny Conference opener Friday against Hampton.

A feeling? Sure. But nothing definite.

Until now.

“It looks like he’s going to, yeah,” McKeesport coach Matt Miller said. “We’ve been playing shorthanded all year. No excuses. But we’ve got to get better, get healthy and I think, right now, we’re starting to get to that point.”

Bringing Spell back will make the team immediately healthier and switch the Tigers back from a team that could contend for the WPIAL Class 4A title to the frontrunner to win their first championship in 20 years.
