STILLWATER — Tuesday was a good day for Oklahoma State University.

A tough day. A sad day. It’s never easy to defrock an icon, to fire a hero. Mike Gundy was all that and more, including a 20¼-year run as the Cowboy football coach, the BEST era of Cowboy football history.

But Gundy’s departure was inevitable, even necessary, and the idea of a Gone Gundy prompted OSU decision-makers to get their house in order. Cowboy athletics got a lot more functional as a result.
