CAROLINE COUNTY, Va. (WWBT) - It’s a sigh of relief for a Caroline County mom after learning the woman accused of assaulting her three-year-old child at school is no longer his teacher.

“I’m glad, I feel like she thought it was going to go away like, ‘Oh I’m sorry I might have scratched you,‘” the mom said. “I’m actually glad that it happened so quickly.”

On Friday, the County charged 28 year-old Spenser Bettinger with felony child abuse. The school division confirmed with 12 On Your Side on Tuesday that she no longer works at Bowling Green Elementary or anywhere in the division.

This all comes after the young boy told his mom, who wishes to not be identified, about the incident after school on Friday.

“He said my teacher pinched me, and he starts pulling his shirt down to show me,”
