DETROIT – Emmitt Finnie doesn’t resemble your typical seventh round NHL draft pick.

The skilled left wing impressed during Detroit Red Wings training camp and Sunday’s Red & White game, and he was the best player on the ice Tuesday in his NHL preseason debut.

Finnie set up a goal with a highlight-reel pass and later scored what proved to be the game-winner in the Red Wings’ 3-2 victory over the Chicago Blackhawks at Little Caesars Arena.

Carter Mazur and Nate Danielson also scored for the Red Wings and Sebastian Cossa made 15 saves while playing the entire game.

Finnie snapped a 2-2 tie with 7:22 remaining in the third period. He won a puck battle down low, getting it to Ian Mitchell along the boards. Mitchell passed it to Michael Brandsegg-Nygard in the slot and Finnie cleaned up on t
