NEWTON, Kan. (KSNW) — Loneliness plagues many Americans, especially in the senior community. One group is building bonds to make the best of their golden years.

For around eight years, a group of women at Kansas Christian Home in Newton has been a welcoming party for new residents. They're a reminder that you can make new friends at any age.

"It's a group of ladies who I want to be when I grow up," Samantha Schaefer, Kansas Christian Home's marketing director, summed up.

Everyone knows the Westside Girls at the Kansas Christian Home. They come together every Monday and Friday morning for coffee and a lot of laughs.

"We just gossip," laughed Betty Bartlett, Westside Girls' member. "And worry about the neighbors."
