Just hours after ceremonial pucks were dropped at the site of the city’s new event centre next to the current Sudbury Arena on Elgin Street, more details emerged at Tuesday evening’s council meeting about what people can expect to see when the new building opens in April of 2028.
While the facility will be completely state-of-the-art with an attention-grabbing silver and gold exterior that also has lots of glass, and increased seating, it looks like one popular feature at hockey games won’t be relegated to the sidelines: the snarling, stuffed, wolf-on-a-rope that comes down and looks directly at the opposition hockey team’s bench when the hometown Wolves score.
