CHICAGO (WLS) -- The Illinois Department of Public Health has issued vaccine guidelines for flu and COVID-19, as they say federal guidance has been hard to navigate.

In Illinois, the flu shot is recommended for anyone six months and older.

When it comes to the COVID vaccine, IDPH says adults ages 18 and older should be vaccinated, as well as children between the ages of six and 23 months.

For children between 2 and 17 years old, the department says they should get vaccinated if their parents want them to have it, and if they have special circumstances like underlying conditions or weakened immune systems.
