(WJET/WFXP)-- Pennsylvania officials are warning the public about yet another scam in the Commonwealth, this time involving text messages impersonating the PA Department of Revenue (DoR) in order to steal sensitive information.

Text messages impersonating the DoR have been reported throughout the Commonwealth, often with fake links to websites or promises of refunds that are used to steal sensitive personal and financial information from people.

Similar scam texts impersonating the Philadelphia DoR, along with several other states, including California, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Missouri, which officials said indicates a larger coordinated effort.
