LONGVIEW, Texas (KETK) -- Longview ISD parents gathered on Tuesday at Foster Middle School for School Safety Night, hearing from local first responders and district staff on how students are being kept safe while in the classroom.

"Our fire department not only handles all of the fire emergencies in the city, but also all of our medical emergencies in the city," Longview Interim Fire Marshal Marcus Delaney said. "It was good to be able to answer questions and get feedback."

The fire department provided parents with important and often overlooked reminders, such as keeping the fire lane clear. Also emphasizing the importance of emergency preparedness conversations with their kids.
