LEEDS, Ala. ( WBRC ) - The City of Leeds will have new leadership after current mayor David Miller decided not to seek re-election. On Tuesday, voters chose Eddie W. Moore as their next mayor .

Dozens of friends and family celebrated Moore’s big win at The Livery after polls closed Tuesday.

He secured 60% of the vote, saying it’s a testament to his hardworking campaign team and his supporters living in Leeds.

“Tingly happy!” said Moore when asked how he felt about winning. “It’s unbelievable, the turnout we had.”

Moore says you typically expect a 40% return in voters for a runoff, but they blew that out of the water! Around 2,500 people cast their ballot Tuesday compared to the 2,600 in the first municipal race several weeks ago.
