Mike Gundy has been fired as head football coach at Oklahoma State, according to multiple reports .

The Cowboys were 1-2 this season, including a 19-12 home loss to in-state Group of 5 opponent Tulsa last Friday and a 69-3 loss at Oregon on Sept. 6. Oklahoma State went 3-9 in 2024, going 0-9 in the Big 12 and finishing with its first losing record since Gundy’s debut season 20 years ago.

Hired Jan. 3, 2005, to replace Les Miles (who’d gone to LSU to replace NFL-bound Nick Saban), Gundy was the second-longest-tenured FBS head coach in the country. Only Iowa’s Kirk Ferentz, on the job since 1999, had been at his current school longer.
