Two teenage brothers were killed after being struck by a passenger train in Rourkela late last night.

The victims, Ranjan Patra (18) and Jagan Patra (15), residents of Haripur Basti in Basanti Colony, were hit by the Birmitrapur passenger train around 9:30 PM while attempting to cross the railway tracks.

According to reports, the brothers had earlier escorted their sister home from her job at a mobile shop in Uditnagar. They returned to the area to repair a mobile phone and were on their way back when the tragedy occurred. Both died instantly at the scene.

Government Railway Police arrived promptly, recovered the bodies, and sent them to Rourkela Government Hospital for post-mortem. Family sources revealed that Ranjan worked with his mother at a local hotel, while Jagan was a Class IX s
