The former leader of the California Assembly on Tuesday announced he was stepping into the state's already crowded governor's race.
Ian Calderon was the first millennial elected to the State Assembly in 2012, and in 2016 became the state's youngest Assembly Majority Leader.
Following his time in office, Calderon founded a strategic advising firm, Majority Advisers.
In his campaign video, Calderon expresses that the cost of living is one of the main motivators for him to enter the race, making the claim that current leaders are "trying to use yesterday's ideas to solve today's problems."
Calderon's campaign video also pushes him as a more moderate Democratic candidate.
"I'm a Democrat who believes in working families, small businesses and common sense solutions, not the political extre
