The MiG-21 is going to bid farewell to the Indian Air Force. Its farewell ceremony will be held on September 26 in Chandigarh. Air Force Chief Air Chief Marshal AP Singh and female fighter pilot Squadron Leader Priya Sharma may fly the MiG-21.

The rehearsal for the farewell ceremony is being held on September 24. According to media reports, besides the MiG-21, Jaguar and indigenous Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA Mk-1) may also participate in this ceremony.

The MiG-21 jet was first inducted into the Indian Air Force in 1963. This was India's first supersonic jet, meaning it could fly faster than the speed of sound (332 meters per second).
