Don’t close the book on (or throw it at) Randolph County Schools.
In June, Randolph County Schools were placed under a state of emergency by the West Virginia Board of Education because of a budget deficit. The school district has a “probationary period” of six months to plan a fix or the state usurps local control. Massive consolidation plans loom.
I can’t imagine schools closing for financial reasons in other developing nations. They rarely do.
I’m not against all state takeovers. The state seized four school districts recently with good reason. Mingo County is under fire. Is the third takeover the charm?
