In a festive relief for lakhs of Odisha government employees, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday directed that the September salaries be disbursed in advance on September 26, ahead of the Sharadiya Durga Puja celebrations.

Usually, salaries are credited on the last working day of the month. But with the Odisha government offices scheduled to remain closed for Durga Puja holidays from September 27, CM Mohan Majhi has asked departments to ensure timely payment before the long break.
