Arunachal Pradesh is fast emerging as India’s new frontier for hydropower development. With an estimated 50,394 megawatts (MW) of exploitable hydropower potential, nearly 38% of the country’s total of 1,33,410 MW, this strategically located state is set to play a pivotal role in India’s clean energy transition.

Despite its enormous capacity, the state’s current installed hydropower capacity stands at just 1,256 MW. That scenario, however, is beginning to shift rapidly.
